Birch is one of the most fascinating natural materials that continues to inspire us. With its soft, light surface and graphic grain, it has a special beauty. But above all, its wood is characterised by durability, flexibility, tear resistance and robustness. Thanks to its cold-resistant properties, it was the first tree to colonise the soil after the Ice Age. Even „Ötzi“ kept his most valuable everyday companions in birch bark containers.

Our Alva furniture fascinates every observer with its vividness. Thanks to finely tuned lighting, the real birch bark rear panels cast impressive shadows. The stained wood of the core birch Haarma (Finnish for „grey“) provides a timeless living experience that can be combined with any wall colour.

To preserve this natural wonder, we peel the bark for ourrear panels from the living tree so that it can regenerateon it. The moss or verdigris is usually still visible on theseuntreated originals. But the wood for our new Alva rangealso comes from forests where only as much wood is takenas is able to grow back.
